Every once in a while, you read about this kid being the next Zidane and another kid being the next Ronaldo. After a few months, you hear some other kid being called the next Zidane. I dont know who this is an insult to. Zidane or the poor kids.
Lets get this straight. There is only one Zinedine Zidane. Just as there is only one Ronaldo. Are you doing justice to Zidane's career by calling some 13 yr old kid your successor? No offense to the kid, but look at what Zidane's achieved. And look at what the kid's achieved.
Can you imagine the hype a 13 yr old gets when he is publicly announced as the "next Zinedine Zidane"? How many next Zinedine Zidanes have actually gone on to become a Zinedine Zidane?
Being called the next Zidane, is it a boon or a pain? Its left for you to debate.
Moreover, I thought Zidane's kid was the next Zidane.

What is the kid's name?
Also, when was ZZ discovered? How old and how good was he then? Was he touted as someone else too?
Oh boy you got me digging...
He has two kids actually - Enzo and Luca(sounds familiar?). One is in the Real Madrid Infantil B team and the other is in the Benjamin B team.
Zidane was discovered in 1991 by AS Cannes scout Jean Varraud. He went to Cannes for a six week stay but ended up staying for four years. No doubting his ability any time I assume.
As far as the touting goes, i guess it must have been "The one and only Zinedine Zidane"
Then, there you go, that's the way to differentiate a hyped from an original. If your comment's last line is researched, that is.
There are many exceptions to your theory. Atleast one...that i can quickly recollect is Robinho. Pele himself called him the next Pele.
But still he managed to surive and do superbly and is currently the costliest player in football.
So, the key is to have good head on the shoulders and work hard.
Btw...i hope Zidane never called anyone the next Zidane !!
Most of the brazilians are exceptions. The key is to have Pele coach the youth team.
